This silky chocolate orange mousse is a dreamy dessert that feels indulgent yet stays low carb and keto friendly. Perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth any night of the week.
Place the chopped sugar-free dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Heat 1/4 cup of the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it just begins to simmer, then pour it over the chocolate. Let it sit for 1 minute, then whisk until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is glossy and smooth. Stir in the orange extract and set aside to cool to room temperature.
In a large bowl, combine the remaining 3/4 cup of heavy cream, powdered erythritol, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Beat with a hand mixer on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.
Add about one-third of the whipped cream to the cooled chocolate mixture and stir it in to lighten the base.
Gently fold the remaining whipped cream into the chocolate mixture using a spatula, being careful not to deflate the mousse. Fold until no white streaks remain and the mousse is uniformly dark and airy.
Divide the mousse among 4 serving glasses or ramekins. Sprinkle each with a little fresh orange zest on top.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to let the mousse firm up slightly. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
